Tank bottoms
Bottoms for Containers
Bottoms are a critical element of any container, responsible for tightness, safety, and durability of the structure. At the Uteho production facility, we manufacture all types of bottoms using the rotational drawing method on CNC machines. This method makes it possible to achieve ideal geometry for containers of any purpose — from food tanks to industrial reactors.
Prices for Container Bottoms
The cost depends on the diameter, type of bottom, and material. The price is specified individually depending on the configuration.
Short table of popular types:
| Type of bottom | Material | Price |
|---|---|---|
| Flat bottoms | Stainless steel / steel / aluminum | individually |
| Spherical | Stainless steel / steel | individually |
| Torispherical | Stainless steel / steel | individually |
| Elliptical | Stainless steel / steel | individually |
| Dish-shaped | Steel / stainless steel | individually |
| Custom-shaped bottoms | On request | individually |
For projects where energy efficiency and reliable thermal insulation are important, bottoms are often ordered together with finished containers, such as a stainless steel buffer tank — it ensures proper operation of heating systems and high resistance to temperature loads.
Choosing the Right Bottoms for Containers: Stainless Steel from Uteho
The choice of a bottom directly affects the service life of the tank and operational safety. Uteho manufactures bottoms with diameters up to 1250 mm, including complex geometric shapes that cannot be produced by standard stamping.
The rotational drawing method has several advantages:
- high geometric accuracy for large diameters;
- ability to work with soft and strong ductile metals;
- low tooling cost — 10–20 times cheaper than stamping tool sets;
- minimal production preparation time;
- possibility of final finishing directly on the machine.
AISI 304 stainless steel provides maximum corrosion resistance. It is also used in the production of industrial tanks, food containers, and other products similar to those presented in the stainless steel products section.
Installation of Bottoms for Different Types of Containers and Materials
Thanks to the flexibility of the technology, bottoms are suitable for:
- buffer tanks;
- heating tanks;
- pressure vessels;
- food reservoirs;
- industrial units (reactors, mixers);
- large-volume tanks — up to 1000+ liters.
Sheet thickness depends on the selected metal:
- brass, aluminum — 6–8 mm;
- steel, stainless steel — 3–4 mm.
During manufacturing, neat welding edges are formed, ensuring clean welds and the absence of stress in the seam area.
How to Avoid Rust on Container Bottoms?
The risk of corrosion depends on the metal and operating conditions. To ensure bottoms last for decades:
- choose AISI 304 stainless steel, especially for food containers or work in humid environments;
- use high-quality argon-shielded welding;
- carry out passivation after installation;
- avoid contact with aggressive environments;
- ensure proper ventilation and absence of condensation.
For heating and heat storage systems, structures with external insulation are recommended — the same principles are applied in the production of buffer tanks.
