FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)

1. What volume jars can be used for canning in the autoclave?

Jars of the following volumes are suitable for canning in the autoclave: 0.5 L, 0.7 L, 1 L, 1.5 L, 2 L, and 3 L.

2. How much water should be poured into the autoclave?

The autoclave should be filled with water in a way that covers the top row of jars by 2 centimeters. Regardless of how many rows of jars you have placed in the autoclave, all of them should be completely covered with water.

3. Can an electric autoclave be used on a gas stove or an open flame? Will this damage the heating element (TEN)?

Yes, it can. All electric autoclaves are universal and designed to heat from an external heat source. When heating on a gas stove or an open flame, the heating element will not be damaged, just make sure to unplug the cable from the autoclave sockets.

4. Will an electric autoclave work in automatic mode if placed on an open flame?

No, it won't. Automatic mode is only available when connected to the power grid. When using an external heat source, the temperature and time should be monitored manually.

5. How does automation work in electric autoclaves?

The kit includes a special control unit that monitors the canning process. After heating to the specified temperature, a countdown timer will start, automatically turning off the autoclave when complete.

6. What pressure needs to be created in the autoclave and why?

If you are using Twist-Off lid jars, there is no need to create initial pressure. In the case of using jars with regular canning lids, initial pressure of 1 atm is required.

7. Can the pressure be released from the autoclave during or at the end of canning?

No, this is strictly prohibited! Releasing pressure is recommended only at temperatures below 30°C. If done at a higher temperature, it can cause the jars to burst.

8. Do your autoclaves have a cassette?

No, there is no cassette. Our autoclaves operate without a cassette.

9. What is the difference between a cassette autoclave and an autoclave of your manufacture? Which one is better?

The difference lies in the technology of lid retention. Autoclaves that hold lids using pressure rather than clamping cassettes are more convenient to use.

10. How do you place jars in the autoclave?

Jars are placed in several rows depending on the autoclave model and jar volume. The bottom row is placed on a special stand that comes with it, and the rest of the rows are placed on top of the previous one, without any inserts between the jars.

11. Can the autoclave explode?

No, it cannot. All autoclaves manufactured by us undergo a high-pressure test. Additionally, they are equipped with a special safety valve that will operate if the pressure exceeds the norm.

12. Is it necessary to perform a test run of the autoclave?

No, it is not mandatory, but we recommend doing so. The canning process in the autoclave is not complicated, but a test run will help you visually see how it operates and understand if you have done everything correctly.

13. How long does it take for the autoclave to reach the working temperature?

Regardless of the type of autoclave (electric or gas), it takes from 50 minutes to 2 hours to reach the working temperature. Autoclaves with larger capacities take longer to heat up.

14. How to find out at what temperature and for how long to can various products in the autoclave?

You will find this information in the instruction manual that comes with the autoclave. It details all temperature regimes for common products.

15. How to properly fill jars with products for canning in the autoclave?

Jars should be filled in a way that leaves 2 centimeters of free space between the lid and the product.

16. How to release air from the autoclave after it cools down?

When the temperature in the autoclave drops to 30°C, the pressure should be 1 atm (the same as before heating). Air should be released slowly using the vent or safety valve.

17. How to care for the autoclave after use?

After use, wipe the autoclave with a dry cloth and store it in a dry place.

18. What pressure should be in the autoclave at a temperature of 110°C - 120°C?

At a temperature of 110°C, the pressure will rise to approximately 3.5 atm, and at 120°C, it will rise to approximately 4.5 atm.

19. Which autoclave to choose: gas or electric?

Electric autoclaves are more convenient to use: they operate in automatic mode and can be used with an open heat source.
