Titans of water heating on wood
Wood-Fired Water Heater
The wood-fired boiler (titan) is a device designed for autonomous water heating without connection to gas or electricity. These water heaters are ideal for use in cottages, rural areas, temporary accommodations, and trains. You can purchase wood-fired water heaters and their components at Ukrpromtech's store.
How the Wood-Fired Boiler Works
Wood-fired water heaters operate as follows:
- Fuel (wood chips, briquettes, paper, coal, peat) is placed into the firebox.
- Once ignited, smoke rises through the pipe located in the center of the water heater’s body, heating the water.
- Heated water rises to the top of the tank and is dispensed through a showerhead or faucet as cold water enters.
Advantages and Disadvantages of Wood-Fired Boilers
Advantages:
- easy to connect and operate;
- quick water heating (around 20-30 minutes);
- ability to fill the tank from a water supply, pump, or manually;
- safe design (no risk of explosion or fire);
- low fuel cost and the option for self-supply;
- autonomous operation without reliance on energy sources.
Disadvantages:
- requires connection to a chimney;
- needs storage space for dry fuel reserves.
Main Types of Wood-Fired Water Heaters
Wood-fired boilers are available with:
- separate or built-in fireboxes;
- water tank capacities ranging from 60 L to 120 L;
- various configurations: with two nozzles for hot and cold water, with an attached mixer, or equipped with taps and a showerhead;
- no additional heating sources or with an electric heating element.
How to Choose a Wood-Fired Water Heater from Ukrpromtech
Recommendations for choosing a wood-fired water heater:
- Consider the tank capacity. A 90 L tank is sufficient for a family of 2-4 people.
- It is recommended that the water tank be made of stainless steel to prevent rust, which can cause the water to turn brown.
- Check the firebox material. Steel fireboxes are suitable for continuous operation and are well-sealed, while cast iron fireboxes last longer and retain heat better.
- Pay attention to the configuration. If the boiler is intended for multiple rooms, select equipment with a full set of taps. If it will be used solely for showering, you can choose a model without taps and purchase a showerhead separately.
