UTEHO lids are compatible with all household autoclaves and are easily combined with other canning consumables. If necessary, they can be used together with additional components from the section lids for jars in an autoclave. How will airtight lids from Uteho simplify your canning?
UTEHO lids are designed to withstand pressure up to 4–5 atm, not deform, and maintain airtightness even after prolonged heating.
Jars with a Twist-off lid are convenient because they do not require a canning key — it is enough to screw them on tightly, and the lid will withstand the full sterilization cycle.
An additional valve provides an indication of the jar condition: it helps immediately determine whether the preserves are stored well.
The additional button valve serves as a safety indicator. If everything is fine with the preserves, the valve is pulled inward. If the jar has spoiled and “bulged” – the valve becomes convex outward, warning about the problem.
Airtightness and reliability of lids during canning
The right lid is one of the key factors for high-quality sterilization. The metal in UTEHO lids withstands heating up to 120°C, does not crack, and does not deform under pressure changes.
The reinforced lacquer layer protects the inner surface from contact with acids and salt mixtures.
Twist-off lids are firmly fixed on the jar thanks to multi-point grips, and models with a valve help to understand whether the preserves have been stored well.
SKO are suitable for classic sealing (they can be used with clamps or without).
How to extend the service life of autoclave lids?
- use lids strictly for their intended purpose and for one autoclaving cycle;
- do not overtighten SKO — this reduces the elasticity of the metal;
- store lids in a dry place to avoid micro-corrosion;
- screw twist-off lids on tightly, but without excessive force;
- use clamps only during sterilization, not during cooling.
If you regularly work with preserves, it is more convenient to have a universal set of lids, tongs, and clamps at hand — this speeds up the process and reduces the risk of mistakes.
