Retort pouches are made of metallized multilayer material with a thickness of 130 μm (12PET / 9ALU / 12OPA / 90CPP). Such a structure provides:
- resistance to temperatures up to 130 °C;
- hermetic sealing even under high pressure;

- long storage time without change in taste.

Shelf life of products in a retort pouch
The main advantage of a retort pouch is a consistently long shelf life. Thanks to full hermetic sealing and heat resistance, the material preserves the structure of the product after autoclaving, and the seam withstands high loads.
With correct sterilization in an autoclave, the shelf life can be up to 2–3 years, depending on the recipe, acidity and temperature regime.
Can the pouch be reused?
Retort pouches are intended for only one sterilization cycle.
The multilayer material is not designed for repeated heating under pressure: after autoclaving the structure has already expended its resource value.
